Atkin Chambers welcomes new tenant Katie Powell

11th Feb 2019

Barrister Katie Powell will join Atkin Chambers on 11 February 2019 from 4 New Square.

“Atkin Chambers is delighted that Katie Powell will be joining Chambers.  Katie has an excellent reputation in construction, product liability and professional negligence, and her expertise will complement Chambers’ strength and depth in these sectors,” commented Chantal-Aimée Doerries QC, Head of Atkin Chambers.

Katie is an established practitioner in Atkin Chambers’ main practice areas.  She is recommended as a leading junior in both Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 in construction, professional negligence and product liability. They describe her as an “outstanding construction and construction-related professional indemnity advocate” and “a notable junior who frequently appears in significant litigation and complex multiparty actions before both the TCC and Court of Appeal”.

“I am excited to be joining a set with such a strong reputation in construction and professional negligence.  I am confident that this is the right set for me to develop my practice both domestically and internationally,” commented Katie Powell.

“We continue to see a growing demand for specialist Professional Indemnity experience particularly in construction and engineering and related professional negligence work. The complexity of construction and major infrastructure projects continues to increase. This is particularly so in transport, water and energy projects.  We welcome Katie Powell to Chambers – her skill and experience will be an excellent addition to the expertise already on offer in Chambers,” commented chief executive officer and director of clerking David Barnes.

Katie Powell was called to the Bar in 2005.  She is a member of the Society of Construction Law (SCL), TECBAR, the Commercial Bar Association and the Professional Negligence Bar Association.
