29th Dec 2014

Jonathan Acton Davis QC was lead Counsel to the al-Sweady inquiry, who’s report by the Chairman (Sir Thayne Forbes) was laid before Parliament on Wednesday 17th December 2014. The Inquiry heard evidence for a total of 169 days over a period of 44 weeks and was centred around the allegations of British Soldiers mistreatment of 9 Iraqis. It concluded that the British soldiers were guilty of mistreating detainees but that the most serious allegations made against the soldiers where “wholly and entirely without merit or justification”.
