Ella specialises in construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy and technology disputes. She serves as counsel before domestic courts and international arbitral tribunals.

Ella has a broad practice in construction litigation and arbitration, spanning the range of Chambers’ work. She regularly works as part of counsel teams and has appeared as sole counsel before the County Court and High Court (Technology and Construction Court).
Ella has particular experience acting as junior counsel in technically complex disputes relating to large construction and energy projects. Recent examples include acting as junior counsel (including at the five-week trial) in an ICC arbitration regarding the defective design and construction of a waste-to-energy biogas plant, and acting for the developer in a multi-million euro High Court (TCC) claim regarding claims for breach of contract arising from the construction of a factory.
Ella has considerable experience of international arbitration, in particular in relation to disputes concerning high-value construction and energy projects. She has worked under all major institutional rules (HKIAC, ICC, ICSID, LCIA, SIAC and UNCITRAL) and in ad hoc arbitrations, in disputes concerning parties in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the CIS, Europe and the Middle-East.

Ella has worked on a wide range of construction and engineering disputes, spanning from residential buildings to large-scale public and commercial premises and infrastructure projects. She is familiar with bespoke and standard form construction contracts, including JCT and NEC forms, as well as EPC and PFI contracts.

Ella has experience of cases in the information technology sector, including advising a local government authority in relation to a construction adjudication and prospective court claim against a leading independent security technology company arising under a contract to provide an electronic access control system in a building.
Ella has experience of acting and advising in all stages of construction adjudications, and also acts as a TECBAR adjudicator.

Career
Ella previously practised for two years in the litigation and controversy department (international arbitration practice group) at a leading US-based international law firm (WilmerHale, 2019-2021), where she advised clients in high-value and multi-jurisdictional litigations and arbitrations.
Before that, Ella worked for two years at a number of leading law firms (2016-2018), including undertaking two six-month traineeships in the international arbitration practices at Magic Circle firms in Paris (Allen & Overy LLP and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP) and working for two arbitrators. During this time, she assisted counsel teams acting in over twenty complex international disputes and worked as an arbitral tribunal secretary, including in cases in the construction sector.
