Professor Doug Jones AO delivered a keynote address on the future of alternative dispute resolution at the Australian Disputes Centre’s 40th anniversary conference on 27th March.
In his paper, he explored two key themes shaping the next generation of ADR in the next 40 years:
1. The growing role of AI in evidence management, legal analysis, and outcome prediction, alongside the need for continued human oversight.
2. The increasing integration of mediation and arbitration as a more efficient and commercially responsive model of dispute resolution.
These developments will play a central role in ensuring ADR continues to meet the evolving needs of commercial parties, and only time will tell how they will shape the future of dispute resolution in the years ahead.
