‘From Westminster to Wan Chai: NEC and avoiding adjudication’ – Edmund Neuberger and Caroline Greenfield to present to the SCL Hong Kong

Date: 29 Jan 2026Time: 6:30pm

Address:
Hong Kong Arbitration Centre
38th Floor Two Exchange Square
8 Connaught Place
Hong Kong

Edmund Neuberger and Caroline Greenfield will present an evening seminar to the Society of Construction Law Hong Kong on 29th January, exploring lessons from NEC contracts and UK adjudication, and their likely impact on the Hong Kong construction market.

Edmund and Caroline will examine how the NEC Target Cost options are intended to operate in practice. The seminar will address common practical issues—such as unapproved programmes and the retrospective assessment of Compensation Events—how the English courts have approached those issues, how parties can avoid adjudication under NEC, and the potential pitfalls of adjudication. Drawing from experiences in UK case law, the session will discuss proactive strategies to prevent disputes from escalating to adjudication and will also provide practical guidance on building and managing an effective adjudication team.

See the SCL website for further details and to register.
