Our barristers frequently undertake work in matters relating to our European neighbours. As part of the European community, over a number of years, we have worked closely and forged strong bonds with both law firms and clients throughout the region.
Outside the United Kingdom our work has included disputes relating to shipbuilding, car production, rail projects, motorway construction, building of housing and retail developments and the construction of power stations. We are regularly instructed in large and high-profile disputes including those concerning Euro Disney, the Gibraltar Airport redevelopment, the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, the Saffron gas fields, BP oil and gas projects in the North Sea, the Shakhtar New Stadium Project in Donetsk in Ukraine, the design and build of the new Istanbul railway, and the construction of Romanian motorways.
Specific recent examples include
- An SCC arbitration in relation to a product liability dispute in Sweden, concerning the sale of goods contract for the provision of smart meters with Swedish rules of evidence.
- A dispute in relation to liability for damage repair and design improvement to North Sea oil exploration vessel which had to be removed from the oil field and taken to Europe for repair following a severe storm.
- A dispute arising out the pre-commissioning and laying of a gas pipeline between Algeria and Spain.
- A case about the construction of a European style flagship hotel for a major chain in Kyiv (Kiev).
