Atkin Chambers is delighted to announce that Catherine Piercy KC has joined the set, with immediate effect.
Catherine joins from Gatehouse Chambers. She was called to the Bar in 2007 and took Silk in 2023. A commercial and insurance specialist, Catherine’s practice focuses on construction and engineering disputes, property damage and professional liability. Catherine is also called to the Bar of Northern Ireland.
Catherine was shortlisted for “Best Woman in Construction Law” by the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards and won Construction Junior Barrister of the Year at the Chambers UK Bar Awards 2019 before taking Silk.
She is recommended by Chambers UK, Chambers Global and The Legal 500 as a Leading Silk for Construction, Professional Negligence and Property Damage. The Legal 500 UK Bar Guide 2025 says of Catherine “She is incredibly intelligent, perceptive and a joy to work with. Not only does she know the law inside out, she’s also commercial and her technical understanding is second to none.”
“Atkin Chambers is delighted to welcome another outstanding silk to its membership. Catherine joins with an excellent reputation and impressive practice,” commented Chantal-Aimée Doerries KC, Head of Atkin Chambers.
On the prospect of joining Atkin Chambers, Catherine said “I am delighted to be joining such an internationally renowned and prestigious set to continue to grow my construction, engineering and insurance practice. I have been fortunate to work with some of the best legal and expert firms in the business, and their reaction has been wholly positive to my move. Whilst I will be sad to leave my Gatehouse friends who have shown me incredible support over the last 15 years, the move to Atkin Chambers represents an exciting new stage to my practice and I look forward to contributing to the set’s continued success.“
“Catherine’s commercial and insurance expertise, across Atkin Chambers’ core practice areas, will further enhance the service that Chambers is able to offer clients. The clerking team and I are very much looking forward to working with her,” adds David Barnes, Chief Executive and Director of Clerking.
Leading Commercial silk Karim Ghaly KC also officially joined Atkin Chambers’ membership today, taking the set’s number of King’s Counsel to 26.
