Atkin Chambers welcomes new tenant Samar Abbas Kazmi

19th Oct 2020

Samar Abbas Kazmi joins Atkin Chambers on Tuesday 12 January 2021, having previously practised from 39 Essex Chambers.

Samar specialises in commercial law with particular emphasis on construction, infrastructure and energy disputes.  He has a wide domestic practice and is particularly well-respected internationally where he has developed an excellent international arbitration practice.

“The members of Atkin Chambers are delighted to welcome Samar to Chambers. He is a natural fit for Atkin Chambers,” commented Chantal-Aimée Doerries QC, Head of Atkin Chambers.

“As a globally recognised set, Atkin Chambers is the ideal place to allow me to continue to develop my international practice while focusing on my key practice areas,” commented Samar Abbas Kazmi. “I will always have fond memories of my time at 39 and wish all my friends there continued success.”

As an advocate, Samar focuses on technically-complex matters concerning large developments and infrastructure projects, often involving parties in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and the Caribbean.

Before coming to the Bar, Samar graduated from Yale University where he majored in Economics and Political Science. Samar is also an Honorary Associate Professor at the Bartlett School of Construction & Project Management, University College London, where he teaches contract administration and law.

“The members of Atkin Chambers are actively supporting their domestic and international clients by providing high-quality advocacy and specialist consultative services.   Samar is an excellent addition to the outstanding group of juniors and silks that practise from Chambers. His specialist practice in major infrastructure disputes and his wider commercial experience complements the specialist services already on offer at Chambers,” commented chief executive officer and director of clerking David Barnes.
