Atkin Chambers continues to support Advocate as a Pro Bono Patron for 2021

26th Mar 2021

Atkin Chambers is an Advocate Pro Bono Patron (silver circle) for 2021.

“Atkin Chambers is pleased to continue its support for Advocate to help ensure it can continue to deliver its services to the most vulnerable in our society particularly in light of the continuing challenges of the pandemic,” commented Chantal-Aimée Doerries QC, Head of Atkin Chambers.

Advocate is the pro bono charity of the Bar. It matches members of the public with barristers who are willing to donate their time and expertise in deserving cases for those who are unable to obtain legal aid and cannot afford to pay.

“Patrons’ donations have given us some certainty in this past year and have been hugely important in ensuring we can continue to deliver our services throughout the pandemic. Last year, Advocate had to quickly digitised its services so we could continue to help people and our casework team worked incredibly hard to ensure that we kept helping as many people as possible. Advocate’s volunteers also stepped up to help in extraordinary ways. Thanks to the dedication of all those involved, we were able to help people with over 1,400 pieces of pro bono work in 2020, a 79% increase on the year before,” commented Rebecca Wilkie, Chief Executive.
