Atkin Chambers is delighted to be involved in a number of events during this year’s London International Disputes Week.
On Friday 6th June, Atkin Chambers will be jointly hosting two events:
9am – 11am
“Interim relief and other skirmishes – an arbitration practitioners’ perspective”
Jointly hosted with CMS, this event will focus on construction / commercial arbitrations and should be of interest to practitioners from a wide variety of practice areas. The panel will consider ancillary measures available to parties alongside arbitration proceedings. It will look at pre-emptive measures, such as anti-suit injunctions and emergency arbitrator appointments, which can be taken in anticipation of arbitration, as well as measures which are available during the arbitral process, such as injunctions to restrain bonds, preservation of documents, or provision of security etc.

“Duties of good faith in international construction / commercial disputes.”
This event, co-hosted with Pinsent Masons, will focus on construction / commercial arbitrations and should be of interest to practitioners and arbitrators in different jurisdictions from a wide variety of practice areas. The panel will consider the legal basis for imposing duties of good faith under English common law and also under the civil codes of various civil jurisdictions (e.g. Europe, Middle East and South America). It will then consider the scope of such duties in these jurisdictions, and discuss the circumstances in which arguments based on good faith may be deployed in international construction / commercial litigation and arbitrations (e.g. in relation to notice requirements for claims and termination).
