We recognise that mini-pupillages are helpful when making decisions about pupillage applications and we are pleased to offer this opportunity to up to 10 candidates each year. Our two-day mini pupillages are available during March, April, July, September and December.
During their time with us, mini-pupils are each offered the dedicated support of a junior barrister whose task it is to provide wide and varied insight into life at Atkin Chambers, and the work of an advocate.
We do not assess our mini-pupils, as we view the experience as a decision-making tool to help inform the right choice when deciding where to submit a full pupillage application.
We request that applicants should be in the second or third year of a law degree or the final year of a non-law degree so that mini-pupillages can be completed before pupillage choices have to be made.
Applications should be made at the following times:
- January, for mini-pupillages taking place in March, April and July of that year;
- July, for mini-pupillages taking place in September and December of that year.
We require a CV and a covering letter of no more than two pages in length addressed to “The Clerk to the Pupillage Committee” at email@example.com. Applicants should state a preference for the month(s) in which they wish to attend and any dates that should be avoided.
We are happy to reimburse all reasonable travel expenses incurred during the mini-pupillage.
Chambers will offer mini-pupillages to students who are interested in subsequently applying for a full pupillage and are suitable candidates for this. Successful candidates will be notified during February for March, April and July mini pupillages, and during August for September and December mini pupillages of the relevant year.
