Mini-pupillages at Atkin Chambers
Although a mini-pupillage is not a pre-requisite to applying for pupillage, we recognise that they are helpful when making decisions about pupillage applications so as to gain some knowledge of the areas of law in which the barristers at Atkin Chambers specialise and get a taste of the Bar.
What mini-pupillages are offered at Atkin Chambers
We are pleased to offer up to 10 mini-pupillage opportunities per year. Our two-day mini pupillages are available during March, April, July, September and December.
We do not assess our mini-pupils, as we view the experience as a decision-making tool to help them inform the right choice when deciding where to submit a full pupillage application. We request that applicants should be in the second or third year of a law degree or the final year of a non-law degree so that mini-pupillages can be completed before pupillage choices have to be made.
During their time with us, mini-pupils are given the dedicated support of a junior barrister whose task it is to provide a varied insight into the life and work of a barrister at Atkin Chambers.
How to apply for mini-pupillage at Atkin Chambers
Please send a CV and a covering letter of no more than two pages in length addressed to the “Clerk to the Pupillage Committee” at firstname.lastname@example.org. Applicants should state a preference for the month(s) in which they wish to attend and any dates that should be avoided. We are happy to reimburse all reasonable travel expenses incurred during the mini-pupillage.
We offer mini-pupillages to students who may be interested in subsequently applying for pupillage and are suitable candidates for this. Successful candidates will be notified in February for mini-pupillages taking place in Spring/Summer, and in August for Autumn/Winter mini-pupillages of the relevant year.
Mini-pupillage applications will be considered if submitted between:
