Pupillage events 2022

We are delighted to launch our autumn programme of events for anyone considering applying for pupillage at Atkin Chambers for 2024 and beyond.

Click through on the links below for further details on the individual events or see out events section here.

We will also be attending the Bar Council Pupillage Fair on Saturday 15 October.

Open Evening (virtual)
Tuesday 1 November 17:30 – 18:30

Panel discussion followed by a question and answer session with practising barristers at Atkin Chambers. The event aims to give prospective pupils an opportunity to learn more about life at the commercial and construction Bar, advice on applying for pupillage, and answers to any questions they have on applying for and working at the Bar.

Open Evening (in person, in Chambers)
Tuesday 8 November 16:30 – 19:30

Same as above but in person in Chambers – followed by drinks/refreshments and an opportunity to meet members of Chambers in person. Places are strictly limited and priority may be given to candidates looking to apply in the January 2023 application round.

Construction Law – an introduction for aspiring barristers (virtual)
Tuesday 6 December 17:30 – 18:30

Applicants often ask us if they can make an application to Atkin Chambers even though they have not done any “construction law” and don’t have any “construction experience”. The aim of this seminar is to show potential applicants that they probably have done some construction law and only need to look at recent cases on their university or GDL reading lists to see that construction barristers, and in particular members of Atkin Chambers, debate some of the most fundamental principles of private law in the appellate courts. Members of Chambers will summarise four recent construction cases and consider what about them made them typical of a construction case. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask why the Court reached the decision it did, what it is like to work on construction cases in practice as opposed to in an academic environment, and any other questions they have about the cases or life at the commercial/construction bar.
