Professor Doug Jones AO will participate in a panel discussion at the IBDiC/ICLA International Congress, which will be held online on 27/28 August 2020. The event is held in partnership between the International Construction Law Association (ICLA) and the Brazilian Institute of Construction Law (IBDiC) and will bring together leading international and Brazilian speakers to discuss various topics related to the central theme: “Force Majeure Revisited: Dealing with the Unpredictable”. The discussions will be held in English in four panels across two days.
Doug’s session on 28 August at 10.45 Brasilia Time – “Conflicts arising from the coronavirus pandemic from the perspective of arbitrators and judges” – will be moderated by Ricardo Medina of the IBDiC, and speakers include: former German Supreme Court judge Stefan Leupertz, and independent arbitrators Janet Walker and José Emilio Nunes Pinto.
The virtual panel discussions will take place at 1pm – 3:15pm UK Time/ 9:00 am – 12:15 pm Brasília Time Time.
For this year’s conference, as an exception, registration is free although it is asked that a voluntary donation be made to the charity Casa José Coltro ( http://www.casajosecoltro.org.br) to support its work with underprivileged children and adolescents in Brazil.
