Shourav Lahiri will guest lecture on “Advocacy in International Arbitration” for all LLM students of the University of Hong Kong LLM ADR programme on Thursday 24 June.
The session will be moderated by Shahla Ali, Professor of Law, HKU.
The workshop will cover the three main stages of advocacy required of counsel conducting a hearing in international arbitrations:
- written advocacy in opening and closing submissions;
- cross-examination of factual and expert witnesses; and
- responding to questions from the arbitral tribunal.
Based on his experiences having been an advocate in construction arbitrations across cultures and jurisdictions, Shourav will discuss the strategies and skills an advocate can develop in these three areas of advocacy in order to most effectively present their client’s case.
The workshop will be held on 24 June (Thursday) from 11:30am -1pm (HKT) via Zoom.
