14 Nov 2022: Rupert Choat KC on bonds for The SCL(Gulf) Debate

Rupert Choat KC will participate in The SCL(Gulf) debates for Dubai Arbitration Week 2022 on Monday 14 November.

The event will debate two motions: (1) This house believes that on-demand bonds are the only bonds worth having; and (2) This house believes engineers, rather than construction lawyers, are better arbitrators for complex construction disputes.

Rupert Choat will debate the first motion. Each side of the debate will be made up of two speakers:

• Arguing for the motion: Dom Varley (Dubai Holding) and Rupert Choat KC
• Arguing against the motion: Mark Blanksby (Clyde & Co) and Joanne Prior (Kroll)

Intended to be a lively and entertaining evening, registration is from 6pm and the event will commence at 6.30pm with networking to follow.
