Professor Janet Walker will participate in “GAR Connect: Breaking In – How international arbitration becomes more diverse” on 1 September 2021.
This is a new diversity-themed addition to GAR’s virtual event series. This event will showcase individuals and ideas from seats or regions newer to international arbitration and the stories behind those people and places, along with some of the obstacles and challenges that newcomers to the world of international arbitration face.
Attendees will have a unique opportunity to connect with practitioners from across the world and hear from inspirational figures. The programme will open with a keynote address, before moving into four panel discussions, which audience members will have the chance to contribute to through live Q&A and polling.
Professor Walker will join the GAR Connect Debate at 14:05-14:50 GMT. The interactive session will see her debate the motion “The future of IA is ‘regional” with Jacqueline Oyuyo Githinji, Managing Partner of Umsizi LLP.
The debate judges are Sheika Haya Rashed Al Khalifa from Haya Rashed Al Khalifa, and Nayla Comair Obeid, Obeid & Partners.
