Atkin Chambers Barristers
Within 30 minutes of the call from my pupil supervisor informing me that my tenancy application had been successful, the clerks were on the phone with my first two sets of instructions and I have been busy ever since. In the four months since the tenancy decision I have received a wide variety of instructions both in my own right (on smaller cases) and also as a junior member of a team instructed on larger disputes.
In my own right I have been instructed to advise in relation to disputes regarding payment, defects and adjudication enforcement and to appear in the county court and the TCC. Even when instructed as part of a bigger team, I am given a significant degree of responsibility. I have also found that the opportunity to work as part of a team with more experienced members of chambers provides me with a valuable continuation of the learning opportunities and support that started during pupillage. It has also given me the chance to gain an insight into the conduct of very large scale litigation
The clerks are excellent and they have made sure that I am exposed to a wide variety of solicitors and clients and also that I have obtained the advocacy experience required for a successful practice at Atkin Chambers.
With the luxury of my own room, a rent free first year and plenty of work to keep me busy, Atkin Chambers is proving to be the perfect set at which to build a busy practice.
