About Atkin Chambers

Atkin Chambers is a leading set of barristers, based in London, with an international reputation for providing advocacy and advice on cases concerning domestic and worldwide construction, engineering and infrastructure project development and disputes.

Described as the “premier construction set1,” members’ extensive expertise and experience also encompasses complimentary areas such as energy, information technology and telecommunications, professional negligence, shipping, professional negligence and general commercial law.

Based in Gray’s Inn, London, Atkin Chambers’ members work on disputes domestically and globally in cases that concern everything from bridges to airports, cable laying to IT systems, sports stadiums to schools and hospitals, offshore wind farms to oil platforms, and container ships to battleships.

Most of our members’ work involves representing clients in court or in domestic UK and international arbitration proceedings.

In the UK members have acted on many landmark and high-profile cases both in court and arbitration. This includes disputes relating to the Shard, Wembley Stadium, Heathrow T5, Crossrail and London Underground as well as major oil and gas and renewable energy projects.

We are also known for substantial international disputes.  We are regularly involved in high-value construction, energy and infrastructure projects around the globe and regularly appear at international arbitrations seated in the Gulf States, Europe, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Members are authors of authoritative and influential texts including the Building Law Reports, the International Construction Law Review and the Construction Law Journal. Edited in Chambers since 1959, and with the new edition published in 2015, Hudson’s Building and Engineering Contracts is the seminal work on the law relating to building and engineering contracts.

Atkin Chambers was top ranked for construction, international arbitration (construction/engineering), and professional negligence (technology and construction) by the Chambers UK Bar Guide in 2016. It was ranked as a leading set for energy & natural resources, international arbitration (construction), professional negligence (technology & construction), and information technology.
