His Honour Humphrey LLoyd QC has been elevated to be an Honorary Professor by Queen Mary, University of London in recognition of his services to the Centre for Commercial Law Studies and the School of International Arbitration.
His Honour Humphrey Lloyd QC, who is a door tenant at Atkin Chambers, has been conducting courses at Queen Mary on International Construction Contracts and Arbitration since 1986 and was previously a Visiting Professorial Fellow. In 2009 he was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Laws by Leeds Metropolitan University for construction law and arbitration. He was a judge of the Technology and Construction Court of the High Court of Justice from 1993-2005. Since 2005 he has practised at Atkin Chambers as an arbitrator in international and domestic commercial and construction disputes.
He has been Editor-in-Chief of The International Construction Law Review since 1984 and lectures widely on dispute resolution topics. He is Chairman of the Review Body of the UK CIMAR Arbitration Rules. He was a founding member of the UK Society of Construction Law and its President 1985-1988. In 2004 he was awarded its President's Medal. He is a member of the European Society of Construction Law and an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers and of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers.
