Chantal-Aimée Doerries QC appointed Chairman of TECBAR

25th Jul 2010

Chantal-Aimée Doerries QC has been elected Chairman of TECBAR with effect from 15th July 2010 for the next three years.

TECBAR is the bar association for barristers who provide specialist advocacy and advisory services in the fields of technology and construction whether before the Technology and Construction Court (“TCC”) or elsewhere. Clients, construction professionals and solicitors also use TECBAR’s ADR lists to choose expert individuals to sit as arbitrators, adjudicators, mediators or in dispute resolution boards.

Chantal is widely recognised as a leading practitioner in technology and construction dispute resolution covering construction, engineering, infrastructure projects, energy and natural resources, professional negligence, shipbuilding and IT and telecommunications. Recent work includes representing Mott MacDonald in the TCC litigation arising out of Wembley stadium, thought to be the largest construction case issued in the TCC. Many disputes on which she is instructed have an international aspect. For example, in the last year she has been involved in disputes concerning the construction of a retail centre in Germany, the construction of production and drilling units by a Chinese shipyard for a Scandanavian company, the laying of a gas pipeline between Algeria and Spain and a construction contract being litigated in the Japanese courts.

She is a regular speaker at domestic and international conferences and will be chairing two sessions at the IBA in Vancouver in October 2010.

She is regularly recommended by the leading legal directories in the fields of construction, energy and natural resources, professional negligence and international arbitration.
